-
Pattern Variety in One Plant
This variety is bred to be a "living combination." Instead of a single static look, one plant will produce a beautiful mix of solid pink, solid white, and bicolor star patterns—all blooming at the same time!
-
Patterns that Shift Daily
Don't be surprised if your plant looks different from one day to the next! Because these Trial petunias are so reactive, the patterns shift quickly. The blooms you see today are just one phase of an ever-evolving display.
-
Temperature and Light
The "mix" of colors is driven by your unique environment. Variations in light levels and daily temperatures trigger different patterns in the petals. To unlock the full spectrum of colors, ensure your plant gets at least 6+ hours of direct sun.
-
When Your Plants Arrive
The trio of starter plants should be planted immediately upon arrival. Up to three starter plants may be planted together in an 8‑to‑12‑inch container. Do not remove the compostable paper lining when transplanting to protect and aerate the roots.
Potted Firefly Petunias arrive ready for display. No immediate repotting is necessary, and they can comfortably grow in their ceramic home. If the glow is faint upon arrival, provide several days of sunlight to fuel the plant's metabolic momentum and bioluminescence. -
Fertilizer
Petunias are heavy feeders and thrive on regular fertilization. Use the included sample of Light Bio Petunia Nutrition, specially formulated with essential micronutrients for healthy growth and an optimal glow.
A single packet makes a gallon of solution and can be stored for months away from sunlight. If using an alternative fertilizer, choose a petunia-specific formulation with chelated iron. -
Deadheading and Pruning
While Petunias bloom continuously, removing spent flowers keeps plants looking tidy and encourages new growth. Trim back leggy or browning growth to promote fresh, bushy growth and renewed blooming.
Regularly removing older blooms also maximizes the glow; new flower buds and stems emit the most intense light, and clearing away faded flowers ensures their glow is never hidden. -
Spacing
Plant Firefly Petunias about 6 to 8 inches apart, and the Trial varieties about 8 to 10 inches apart. This ensures adequate air circulation and gives each plant the room it needs to flourish—from the Firefly’s upright blooms to the Trial’s overflowing canopy.
-
Soil
Use well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. For containers or hanging baskets, choose a high‑quality potting mix containing peat moss and perlite or vermiculite for good drainage.
-
Sunlight
Light Bio Bioluminescent Petunias thrive in full sun, needing 6 to 12 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth. They can tolerate partial shade, but the bioluminescence may be reduced.
-
Watering
Maintain consistently moist soil without overwatering. To prevent the plants from drying out, check moisture levels frequently—especially when planted in containers or during hot, dry spells.
-
Temperature and Humidity
Light Bio Bioluminescent Petunias are suited for spring and summer growing conditions. They grow best when temperatures are cool to warm. Avoid exposing plants to excessive heat or freezing temperatures.
-
Pest and Disease Management
Monitor for common pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites. Fungal diseases can be a problem in overly wet or humid conditions; ensure good air circulation around the plants and avoid overhead watering.
-
Bioluminescence
To enjoy the best display, place your plants in an area free from light pollution. Light Bio Bioluminescent Petunias glow like moonlight at night, revealing their inner flow of energy as they grow and blossom.
-
Glowing
You will notice that the flower buds glow most intensely, with their light gradually softening as the blooms mature. This glow is powered by living energy and may shift from one day to the next as the plants work in harmony with their environment.
-
Caring Recap
Maintain the brilliance of your Light Bio Bioluminescent Petunias by ensuring ample sunlight, consistent water, routine fertilization, and the regular removal of older flowers to encourage fresh, vibrant growth.
