That’s a Wrap on 2026! Welcome to the Summer of Glow

The greenhouses are officially quiet, our packing tables are cleared, and our 2026 shipping season has officially come to a close!

We want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible community of growers and plant lovers who made this season so unforgettable.

Now that our final delivery trucks have rolled out and everyone has received their plants, it is time to transition from planting to enjoying. As the summer nights warm up, your Firefly™ Petunias are stepping into their prime. If you are new to the world of living lights, seeing a biological organism emit its own light can feel like pure magic. To ensure you get the most breathtaking experience, here is exactly how to train your eyes to take in the perfect nighttime view.

1. Seek Out Total Darkness

Because your Firefly™ Petunia emits a soft, ethereal light similar to natural moonlight, it is best viewed in total darkness. For the most magical experience, find a pitch-black room indoors or wait for a moonlit-free night out on the patio.

2. Turn Off Competing Light

Even a tiny bit of artificial light can disrupt the experience. Nearby streetlamps, patio string lights, or even a dim smartphone screen can temporarily "blind" you to the plant's natural bioluminescence. Turn off all nearby electronics and ambient lights before you begin.

3. Give Your Eyes Time to Adjust

Human eyes are incredibly adaptive, but they need time to switch over to "night vision". When you step into the dark with your plant, allow 5–10 minutes for your vision to sharpen. You’ll be amazed at how a soft, steady, shimmering glow gradually reveals itself as your eyes fully adjust.

4. Look to the New Growth

If you aren't sure where to focus your attention, look at the youngest parts of the plant. While the entire petunia is bioluminescent, the youngest flowers and fresh new flower buds naturally contain the most concentrated, brightest light.

Thank you again for joining us on this journey into the future of biotechnology. Sit back, let the lights go down, and enjoy your summer of glow!
